Complaint filed against Hotel Pawnee from Attorney General Office

North Platte, Neb. (NORTH PLATTE POST)– Hotel  Pawnee also known as Pawnee Assisted Living of 221 E 5th St in North Platte received a complaint filled against them from the Office of the Attorney General of Nebraska filed at the Lincoln County District Court Thursday August 2nd.

According to the complaint Hotel Pawnee has been operating without workers compensation insurance coverage. With up to 34 people employed at the Hotel  Pawnee they are in direct violation of the Nebraska’s Workers compensation Act.

Hotel Pawnee’s workers compensation insurance has been canceled as of November 26th of 2010. That’s a total of 613 days as of August 2nd that employees of the Hotel Pawnee have been without workers compensation insurance putting all employees in immediate risk if an employee were to be injured on the job. That employee would not receive any payment from the employer to cover medical bills. One employee within the 613 days has reported a work related injury.

On December 10th 2010 and once more on January 10 2011 the Workers Compensation Court asked Hotel Pawnee to provide business, employee and proof of workers compensation insurance.

As result of the absence of workers compensation insurance Hotel Pawnee is asked in the complaint by the AG not to run business in the state of Nebraska, also Hotel Pawnee must pay a penalty of $1,000 for each day it has operated without workers compensation insurance, totaling to over $600,000.
