The action in the pool comes to a close, while the action on the track heats up today in London. The final medal events in swimming are the men’s 1500 free, the women’s 50 meter free, and the men’s and women’s 4×100 medley relay. The highlight at Olympic Stadium tonight will be the women’s 100 meter dash. American’s Carmelita Jeter and Allyson Felix are expected to contend for gold. Felix, you’ll recall, finished in a tie for third place in the event at the US Olympic Trials and was given the final spot on the team after a run-off to determine the spot was cancelled by the other competitor. You’ll also see the heptathlon and men’s long jump in prime time tonight. Also in action today, the American team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings in women’s beach volleyball in a quarterfinal match, and USA men’s basketball, looking to move to 4-0 as they take on Lithuania.
