Before the pomp and circumstance wraps up a thrilling seventeen days in London, there’s one more major coronation to be held. The US men’s basketball team takes on Spain in the widely-expected, highly-anticipated gold medal matchup. It hasn’t been a thoroughly dominant road to the gold medal game for Team USA, but when they’ve been at their best, no one has been able to compete. Also today in London, an event traditionally held on the final day of the Olympics – the men’s marathon. American Meb Keflezighi is the best hope for the first US gold in the event since Frank Shorter in Munich in 1972.
