Bernard “Bernie” F. Grieser


Bernard “Bernie” F. Grieser, age 89, of North Platte, passed away August 12, 2012 at his home. Bernie was born August 7, 1923 in North Platte to Edward B. and Ellen B. McCarthy Grieser. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School, graduating in 1942. Bernie entered the United States Army in 1943, serving overseas from July 1, 1944 to January 3, 1946 in England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Czechoslovakia.
He was a self employed electrician, working on electric motors for 25 years then maintained family rental property until 80’s. Bernie lived on his acreage with his horses and dogs. He was a charter member of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Posse and 50 year member of that organization. He was a WWII historian and avid reader. Bernie had a great sense of humor, was a very intelligent man, and loyal friend. He recently celebrated his 89th birthday with his numerous friends. He cherished his Arab horse and German Shepherd Hoodoo.
Survivors include his adopted family Doug Peterson and Brenda Grant both of North Platte; a goddaughter, Jackie Nolan of North Platte; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Leo Grieser and Harold Grieser on July 4, 2012.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Reverend Mark Seiker as celebrant. Burial will follow at the North Platte Cemetery with military honors graveside. Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. today at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. Visitation will be noon until 9:00 p.m. today at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
