LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A former Nebraska football player has been sent to prison after violating his probation on a 2008 theft charge for stealing a big-screen TV and pawning it.
Andre Jones, who lives in Alabama, was placed on probation on the felony theft charge in 2010, but started skipping probation meetings and didn’t pay the fees. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was brought back to Nebraska in June.
A Lancaster County judge on Tuesday sentenced Jones to one to two years in prison for theft by receiving stolen property.
Jones, a native of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., played cornerback for Nebraska in 2006 and in a reserve role in 2007.
