A nine-run deficit proved too much to overcome for the Colorado Rockies, who were denied a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 10-8 loss at Coors Field yesterday. The Rockies rallied for seven runs in the eighth inning after falling behind 10-1, but they would get no closer. Chris Nelson had three hits and Tyler Colvin drove in two runs to lead the Rockies offensively. The Rockies have an off day today after playing 20 games in 20 days, and going 13-7 in that stretch. They open a three-game home series against San Diego on Friday night.
