Trial Delayed For NP Man Charged With MVH

The trial of North Platte man accused of killing a bicyclist in a hit-and-run last year has been delayed.

Twenty-one-year-old Michael Malmkar is charged with motor vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an injury accident. Authorities say he hit Levern Walter and his wife, Roberta, while they were riding their bikes in June 2011. Levern Walter died of his injuries.

Court records show that Malmkar’s trial, which had been set for Tuesday, is now scheduled for Oct. 9 in Lincoln County District Court.

Malmkar is also charged with a January burglary in Lincoln while he was out on bond. The bond was revoked and Malmkar remains in custody.
