CHILI COOKOFF!!

2012 CHILI COOK-OFF DATE IS SET

October 19th, 2012 at the Platte River Mall will be the date and location for the 18th annual First National Bank Chili (& soup) Cook-off to benefit the United Way.

Originally 18 years ago, the chili cook-off was held in the lobby of First National Bank with approximately four employee booths to raise money and awareness for the United Way. Although the cause is still the same, the cook-off has grown to 18 different booths, hosted by different local businesses and organizations…and this year the addition of soups!

First National bank is now accepting registrations from businesses and organizations who would like to participate in the annual event. Business and organizations may stop by First National Bank downtown to reserve their booth space or contact Kirsten Parker at (308) 535-6372 or [email protected]. Booth space is free, however limited to first 20 registered.

The chili cook-off will be open to anyone in the community from 11:30-1:30pm on October 7th. Admission is $6.00, which will include a bowl, spoon, bottled water and voting tickets. Patrons are then encouraged to visit the different booths to sample and vote for their favorites “Best Chili,” “Best Soup,” “Best Booth” and “People’s Choice.” Additional voting tickets will also be available for $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00 Stuffing the ballots is encouraged as all proceeds will benefit the Mid-Plains United Way and their agencies.

American Red Cross, Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska utilities, Head Start 3 yrs, High Expectations, Lutheran Family Services, North Platte Community Day Care, North Platte Opportunity Center, North Platte Senior Center, Rape/Domestic Abuse Program, Salvation Army and The Connection are the agency who will benefit from this year’s United Way campaign led by the chairs of the United Way Board of Directors.
