Sutherland defeated Paxton in a hard fought five set match in the season opener for both teams. Scores in the sets were: 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 17-25, 15-13

Sam Kennedy led the Sailor attack with 22 kills. She also tallied 1 ace. Jalyne Schuster added 14 kills and 3 aces, and Kelsey Dillenburg had 8 kills. Setter Joli Hopping had 42 assists and 1 ace.

The Sailors play at the Gothenburg triangular next Tuesday.
