Olympic Update – Day Seventeen

The Games of the XXX Olympiad officially come to a close today, with the Closing Ceremony taking place at Olympic Stadium. Before the pomp and circumstance wraps up a thrilling seventeen days in London, there’s one more major coronation to be held. The US men’s basketball team takes on Spain in the widely-expected, highly-anticipated gold medal matchup. It hasn’t been a thoroughly dominant road to the gold medal game for Team USA, but when they’ve been at their best, no one has been able to compete. Also today in London, an event traditionally held on the final day of the Olympics – the men’s marathon. American Meb Keflezighi is the best hope for the first US gold in the event since Frank Shorter in Munich in 1972. After tonight, it’s so long to London, with the next Summer Olympics set for Rio de Janiero, Brazil in 2016.

Mother has sex with 15 year old stepson

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) — A 27-year-old Grand Island woman has been charged with child sex assault and incest after police say she had sexual relationship with her teenage stepson.

The woman was in Hall County Court on Friday for the charges.

The Associated Press is not naming the woman to protect the identity of her stepson.

Police say the boy was 15 when his stepmother began having sex with him. Investigators say the boy’s father called police to report he had seen his wife having sex with the boy.

The woman’s preliminary hearing was set for Sept. 11. She faces up to life in prison if convicted of the charges.

Man barricades in home, shoots at police

BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) — A medical evaluation has been ordered for a man suspected of firing shots from a Bellevue home and holding police at bay for five hours.

The standoff began around 1:30 p.m. Friday when a 30-year-old man barricaded himself inside his home and began firing at police who approached the house.

Police blocked off the neighborhood, and after five hours of negotiation, police used tear gas to force the suspect out of the house, where he was arrested.

No one was hurt by the gunfire.

ALLIANCE, Neb. (AP) — A 19-year-old Alliance woman is dead following a rollover crash near her home, but her infant son, who also was in the car, survived.

The Nebraska State Patrol says Henson lost control of the car around 3:30 a.m. and rolled it. Henson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car.

Olympic Update – Day Sixteen

No female Nebraska native has ever won an Olympic gold medal. Jordan Larson will have a chance to change that history today. Larson, who hails from tiny Hooper and played for the Huskers, will start for the US women’s volleyball team as they take on Brazil in the gold medal match. The Americans toppled Brazil in four sets in pool play and are looking for their first ever gold. The US women’s basketball team is also shooting for gold today, as they take on France in the final. Tonight in prime time, don’t blink or you’ll miss Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, and the Jamaican 4×100 meter relay team in action. Bolt cruised to victory in the 100 and 200, with Blake right behind him for silver in both events. You’ll also see the men’s 5000 meter, the women’s 4×400 relay, the women’s 800 meter and the women’s high jump tonight.

#1 I would never EVER reccomend anyone to go to George Hipple Photography! His picturs are horrible, and changes what you were supposed to get for a wedding package(which was paid in full before the wedding) after you put your order in. So tell me this, is it right to screw someone over that has been good customers for over 10 years? Thanks for capturing the oddest poses and not getting the important pictures(like the kiss after the guy says you may now kiss your bride). PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS AND TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THIS ALSO! George is such a jerk! …thanks for NOTHING…literally!!!

#2 Another Friday, soon it will be Monday!#3 I’m hungry!
