The North Platte Bulldog softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to sixth-ranked Grand Island last night at the Dowhower Softball Complex. The opener went to the Islanders by a 9-4 score. The visitors scored six times in the third inning to break the game open. Ashten Hernandez’s two-run homer was the big hit for the Bulldog offense. The second game was a pitcher’s duel won by the Islanders 2-0. Kaite Franzen went the distance in the circle for the Bulldogs and took the hard-luck loss. The Bulldogs drop to 7-3 with the defeats. They host Lincoln Southeast for a doubleheader on Thursday.
