Longtime Owner Of Lincoln Bar Passes Away

A blues bar in Lincoln called Zoo Bar remembers a longtime owner that has passed away.

Larry Boehmer booked early shows at Zoo Bar in the 1970 before he eventually bought the business.

The 65-year-old Boehmer died Tuesday in Arkansas at a Berryville hospital. Boehmer was in hospice care due to lung cancer.

Over the years hundreds of blues bands have performed at the bar, such as Buddy Guy, Robert Cray and Otis.

Boehmer’s sons Jeff and Tim Boehmer and a longtime employee Pete Watters took control of the bar in 2000 when Boehmer and his wife, Rosalie, moved to Eureka Springs Ark., in 2000.

Watters said the Zoo Bar owners are working on how they will commemorate Boehmer in the future.
