Update 9/10:
The missing North Platte man 61-year-old Larry Sack has been missing for a week as of Monday. Sack was reported missing by his family when he didn’t show up to a family event. Sack has Diabetes and left his medicine at home, while his family found his vehicle near the Nebraska Public Power District Canal near the Sutherland Reservoir along with his fishing poles near the water.
Volunteer divers from Sutherland, Keith and Paxton Counties are giving aid to the effort to find Sack.
The Sutherland Reservoir may hold the answer to the location of Larry Sack. Over the weekend Conservation Officers, volunteers and deputies began the search of the reservoir in watercraft. Crews used long poles, sonar and underwater cameras to help investigate the waters.
In addition to the careful search of the reservoir family members, the Lincoln County Sherriff and many other searched the six miles of the canal on horseback. Riding on horseback offers crews a better angle of sight than as vehicle has to offer.
The six mile stretch of the canal has been completely searched with no findings. Chief Deputy Roland Kramer said in a release that the Sutherland Inlet is too dangerous for divers at this time.
This week’s search will consist of:
1) Searching the Canal area in Vehicle and UTV (All terrain)
2) Searching the Inlet and Lake Area of Sutherland Reservoir with watercraft and with UTV’s
3) Further deployment of Search Dogs (today or Wednesday when it is cool and damp).
4) Private individuals will possibly fly the lake and canal area.
Kramer checked the canal this morning and it was 6 to 8 inches lower in water level. The canal is scheduled to drop 6 to 8
inches daily.

Update: 7:30PM 9/4
Larry Sack was reported missing to the North Platte Police Department on Monday, September 3rd.
On Tuesday morning around 11:00 AM Deputies responded to West State Farm Road and the Nebraska Public Power District Canal. At the Canal, family members found the sixty-one-year-old Sack’s vehicle, On the scene investigation point to Sack accidently falling into the canal.
Divers from Sutherland, Keith and Paxton Counties responded to the canal southwest of Sutherland.The Investigation is ongoing as divers face the deep and swift moving waters of the canal making it much harder for the divers.
A release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says that Mr. Sack a not yet been found as of 6:00 pm Tuesday.

Larry Sack, 61 of North Platte is missing. Mr Sack last spoke to his daughter, Shelly Byrn on Sunday around 12:30 and was reported missing to the North Platte Police Department on Monday when he did not show up to a family picnic. Larry has severe health issues and it is very important to locate him as soon as possible. He is 6’4″, with brown hair, blue eyes and a full beard. He drives a 2007 silver Dodge pickup.
Reports from the Lincoln County Sheriffs Office are that this incident is still under investigation and Sack is still considered a missing person at this time.
