Pelini Boasts ‘Clean Bill of Health’, Announces Burkhead Will Play Saturday

Bo Pelini says he’s fine. Rex Burkhead apparently is as well.

The Husker head coach says he has a ‘clean bill of health’ after a scare that sent him to the hospital during Saturday’s game in Lincoln. He clarified that he had been suffering from an upset stomach just before the game and that doctors were concerned enough by tests done at halftime that they decided to take him to the hospital. Pelini denied that the problems were related to stress or his heart, and said “I’m not just healthy. I’m very healthy.” He returned to work Sunday to watch film of Nebraska’s 42-13 win over Arkansas State.

Pelini also announced that Burkhead, his senior running back, will return to Nebraska’s lineup this Saturday when the Huskers host Idaho State. Burkhead had missed the previous two weeks after suffering a sprained MCL in his left knee in the first quarter of the team’s opening week win over Southern Miss. Pelini said Saturday’s game will be a good one to get Burkhead back up to speed before the Huskers open Big Ten play.
