Man Dies After Having Silicone Injected Into His You-Know-What…

A New Jersey woman has pleaded not guilty to reckless manslaughter in the case of a man who died after having his penis injected with silicone.

The woman police say gave the injection, Kasia Rivera, appeared Tuesday in a Newark courtroom.

The Essex County prosecutor’s office says 35-year-old Rivera gave 22-year-old Justin Street, who was seeking an enlargement, the injection in May.

Street died the next day. His death was ruled a homicide following an investigation and a medical examiner’s determination he died of a silicone embolism.

Prosecutors say Rivera had no training to perform the procedure. They believe Rivera may have conducted similar unauthorized procedures out of her East Orange apartment, but no one else has stepped forward.

She remains free on $75,000 bail.

Is Your Child Getting Bullied? Fill Out This Form

A southeast Nebraska school has a new way to combat bullying with an online form to alert officials about the problem.

Meridian Public Schools in Daykin is using the form this year, and it’s accessible on the school’s website.

Principal Bobby Kelley says they needed a way for students and parents to contact them immediately. Kelley says a few forms have been submitted, but the site is not being used to its fullest potential. The principal says they’d get phone calls from parents about their child being bullied, but often it was days later.

Kelley says the goal is let people know the online form is an option.

Crop Update: Crops Head Of Schedule Due To Dry Weather

Nebraska’s main crops remain ahead of schedule, but poor conditions are common across the state because of the hot, dry weather.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday that 12 percent of the corn crop had already been harvested. That’s well ahead of the typical 1 percent at this time of year.

But only about 31 percent of the corn crop in Nebraska rates in good or excellent condition right now. That’s well below the 79 percent average.

The USDA says more than half of the irrigated corn is in excellent or good shape — much better than the 3 percent of dryland corn in that condition.

About 77 percent of the soybeans have begun to turn color. That’s 11 days ahead of the 44 percent average.

Ray Henry Morse

North Platte lost a member of the Greatest Generation on Sept. 7, 2012.
leaves his legacy as a husband, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a citizen defending his country. He was 92 years old.
He witnessed first-hand, some of the worst that World War II’s Pacific Theater had to offer: The Aleutians, The Philippines and Okinawa. In fact, he arrived in the Pacific Theater the very day that the Battle of Attu began. In a world that must have seemed mad with killing and death, Ray Morse was committed to saving lives. He served in an Army Medical Battalion.
A native Nebraskan, Ray was born to parents Henry and Beulah Morse in Wallace. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1938, and went on to attend The University of Nebraska at Kearney, until his nation called for service.
He married Allene (Fisher) Morse in early 1950. He supported his family as a pipe fitter with the Union Pacific Railroad and retired in 1983. Retirement did not curtail his commitment to craftsmanship – he leaves behind a well-used shop in the basement of his longtime North Platte home, complete with a bench worn by countless hours of seated tinkering and reflection. You have not met a more practical man than Ray Morse.
His sisters, Helen Caldwell, of Boulder, Colo., and Louise Stafford, of New Jersey, preceded Ray in death.
He is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Allene Morse; his daughter, Nancy (Doug) Reifschneider; as well as his grandchildren, Jason (Angie) Hill and Dana (Walt) Morgan; four great-grandchildren, Adam Brubaker, Braedan Hill and Lydia and Gus Morgan. He will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Golden Living Center, Cozad or Aserscare Care Hospice, Kearney. Online condolences may be shared at carpentermemorial.com.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Dr. Douglas Delp and Pastor Alison Frazier of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with military honors graveside by the North Platte Veterans organizations.
