Regina M. Teichert


Regina M. Teichert, age 89, of North Platte passed away October 6, 2012 at the Sutherland Care Center. She was born December 25, 1922 in Grainton, NE to Joe and Edith Sintek Welch. She attended school in Grainton, NE graduating with the class of 1940. Regina attended college for a semester in 1940 at Kearney State and began teaching in February 1941, teaching in rural schools in Perkins County through May of 1944. She was employed at the Hastings Navel Ammunition Depot in Hastings, NE and later at the Army Ammunitions Depot in Grand Island, NE. At the end of WWII she returned to teaching until May of 1947 when she married Richard Teichert in August and became a housewife and mother. Regina lost her husband in January 1962 and returned to Kearney State College part-time that June. She was employed at St. Patrick’s Elementary from September 1962-May 1970 while attending night classes. Regina enrolled at Kearney State College full-time September 1970, attending classes and student taught the next 2 semesters. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education in August 1971. She taught at several schools over the next 17 years including West Holt High School in Atkinson, NE, ESU #16 in Ogallala, NE and North Platte, retiring from teaching in 1988. From January 1989-January 1992 Regina was employed part time with Office Personnel Management out of Wichita, Ks. and also worked part time with ESU #16 as a Special Education Consultant in outlaying schools from August 1990 until present. She enjoyed playing cards and sewing.
Survivors include her sons, Jim (Karen Fleming) Teichert of North Platte, NE, Bill Teichert of Grand Island, NE and Bob (Jeanne) Teichert of Casper, WY; 6 grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Walters of IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Richard; and 7 brothers and sisters.

Christian Wake Service will be 7:00 p.m. today at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Neal Hock as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation is 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. today at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
