The Nebraska Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of an Omaha man convicted of first-degree murder in a 2010 shooting at a south Omaha auto shop.

Robert Nave was sentenced to life in prison for the death of 36-year-old Cesar Sanchez, as well as an additional 75 years for conspiracy and weapons convictions.

Nave appealed, arguing among other things that the prosecutor improperly removed a prospective juror from the jury pool because of the juror’s race, and that police failed to properly advise him of his Miranda rights.

On Friday, the state’s high court rejected Nave’s arguments, saying the striking of the juror was not based on race and that police made clear in their Miranda warnings that Nave was entitled to an appointed lawyer before he was questioned.
