Victor Orey Sukraw


Victor Orey Sukraw, age 89, of North Platte, formerly of Maxwell passed away October 16, 2012 at Centennial Park Retirement Village. He was born July 13, 1923 on the farm 10 miles north of Maxwell, where he was raised and attended school at District #136 also known as the Sukraw School. Victor later owned and operated the farm and ranch business with his dad Lewey. On May 1, 1943 he married Daisy Mildred Louise Favinger. To this union two children were born, Shirley and Lewey.
Victor served with the United States Army infantry division. After his return from the service he continued to live and work on the family farm where they boarded teachers who taught at District #136 school, and children who were in need or in distress. The couple continued to farm and ranch until 1964, when they moved to North Platte. He was then employed with the North Platte Street and Sanitation Department, where he continued to work until his retirement. They moved to a small acreage south of Maxwell where they helped raise their son’s two daughters.
Victor was known to be an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener and spent many a Sunday afternoon arrowhead hunting with his family. He was a very special man that never met a stranger.
He is survived by his son, Lewey Sukraw of Maxwell, NE; grandchildren, Tracy Sukraw of Lincoln, NE, Shana (Tom) Miller of Texas, Tonja (Tyrone) Shaw of Brady, NE, Nicole Goana of North Platte, NE, Lucas (Brandi) Anderson of Sutherland, NE, Riley (Cinta) Anderson of Sutherland, NE, Vicki (Keith) Davis of Thorton, CO, Larry Favinger of South Dakota, Kenny Favinger of Napa, Idaho, Tammy (Jeff) Dugger of North Platte, NE and Sue (Dirk) Higgins of North Platte, NE; many great-grandchildren; and a step-son, Kenneth Favinger of North Platte.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Daisy; daughter, Shirley Seaton; daughter-in-law, Kris (Lewey) Sukraw; son-in-law, Dave (Shirley) Seaton; and a step-son, Lawrence Favinger.
Memorials are suggested to the Brady Community Church and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. today and Friday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
