3.6 Magnitude Earthquake Rumbles Near Hyannis

An 3.6 magnitude earthquake occurred Wednesday evening, at around 11:21PM, centered about 18 miles northwest of Hyannis.

No injuries or damage to property have been reported. According to the Associated Press, the quake woke some people up.

In November of 2011, two small earthquakes occurred between Chadron and Crawford.

Related to earthquakes, millions of people in California, Virginia and many other states and countries participated in the “Great Shakeout” earthquake drill. According to the Associated Press, participants stopped what they were doing Thursday morning to practice ducking and taking cover. It was all part of preparation for a future earthquake.
