Easy Access In Scottsbluff Air Travel

Two Scottsbluff airport improvement projects are expected to be finished in about a year.

The Scottsbluff Star-Herald reports that the projects will total about $1 million. About $100,000 is being spent on new boarding ramps for people who use wheelchairs and about $900,000 will be spent on enlarging the terminal’s secure boarding area.

Airport director Darwin Skelton updated the airport board on the projects Wednesday. He said the enlargement project will let more people go through security earlier and remain there without having to go back through security if they need to use restrooms.

The current space isn’t big enough to handle passengers who will be boarding larger jets.

Drake Ties Up Loose Ends From High School, YOLO

A day after earning his high school diploma, an excited Drake performed hit songs at an event for Tyra Banks.

The 25-year-old told the crowd Thursday night that he took a small break from music and “spent some time going back to high school,” adding with excitement: “I got my high school diploma.” The crowd roared.

The Canadian singer-rapper also posted on Twitter late Wednesday that he earned a 97 percent on his final exam through work with a private tutor. He dropped out of high school, ironically, to star in the high school TV series “Degrassi: The Next Generation.”

Drake performed at New York’s Capitale for Banks’ first annual Flawsome Ball for The Tyra Banks TZONE Foundation, her organization aimed at developing confidence in girls.

Fraternity To Reopen After Fire Six Years Ago

A fraternity house at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln is set to reopen after a deadly fire nearly six years ago.

The Lincoln Journal Star  says Phi Kappa Tau will start anew on Saturday when it regains its national standing and becomes an official Wesleyan fraternity with 34 members.

Nineteen-year-old Ryan Stewart, of Ord, died in the November 2006 fire that gutted the house. The fraternity was suspended from the national chapter and the university for at least four years.

Investigators determined the fire started in Stewart’s room, but couldn’t figure out the cause due to the damage.

The university has since installed sprinklers in housing for all 1,100 of its students, including its seven Greek houses. That effort started after the fire and finished this summer.
