Eugene T. Wolfe, 81, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2012, surrounded by his family.
Gene was born on April 13, 1931, in Cambridge, to the late Lloyd and Irene Wolfe. He attended Cambridge High School where he lettered in football, basketball and track.
He served in the Navy from 1950-54 in the 103rd Seabees and enjoyed playing for the Navy football team, while serving his country. During his military service, he met his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth Betlach, in California. They married in 1954 and spent most of their years in Nebraska.
He started Gene’s Drywall Company in North Platte in 1963, which he operated until they moved to Texas in 1987.
Gene’s hobby was the outdoors, as he enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his animals. He loved the Rangers and the Mavericks, but his true passion was Huskers football.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary; and sister, Charlene.
He will live on through our memories and be dearly missed.
Survivors are his children, Cathy (Mark) Flotree, of Lincoln, Carrie (Gib) Rossetter, of Fort Worth, Joe (Trecia) Wolfe, of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A family memorial service was held privately. To honor Gene’s love of nature, memorials are suggested to Nature’s Haven, c/o Judy Richardson, 8400 Palo Duro Court, Fort Worth, TX 76116.
