Elsie Marie Lombardi, 92, of North Platte, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte.
Elsie was born Nov. 2, 1920, at Lewellen, to Otto Gustav and Ella Reick Dettman. She was raised on the family farm east of Lewellen and attended country school, then graduated from Lewellen Senior High School in 1938.
On Sept. 9, 1944, Elsie married Joseph E. Lombardi at Lakewood, Colo. They moved to Kearney, where their son, Dennis, was born. In 1948, the family moved to North Platte where they resided until 1976, when they moved to Littleton, Colo. While in North Platte, Elsie worked at McLaughlin’s Cafe and later at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years. She later returned to North Platte and resided at Centennial Park Retirement Village until her death.
Elsie was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and her dogs over the years.
Elsie is survived by her son, Dennis, and wife, Gaylene Lombardi, of North Platte; two grandchildren, Cyndi and husband, Danny Griffiths, of North Platte, and Jarod Lombardi and fiancée, Joelle Minitti, of Chandler, Ariz., and her children, Morgan and Mason; two great-grandchildren, Brookelyn Griffiths and MaKenna Lombardi; and other family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, her parents; Otto and Ella Dettman; three brothers, Edwin, William and Herbert Dettman; and an infant sister.
Graveside service and interment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo., on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore. Condolences may also be shared at odeanchapel.com.
