Sonja Lee Yost


Sonja Lee Yost, 69, of North Platte, NE passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte after a short battle with cancer.

Sonja was born July 3, 1943, in North Platte to Herman John and Wanda Mae Grunden Pasman. She grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 1961. She went to work for St. Mary’s Hospital in the Laundry Unit then worked in the Surgery Unit. She also worked in house keeping and on the switchboard at the Pawnee Hotel and at the McLaughlin Cafe for two years.

On October 24, 1969, Sonja married Larry Dean Yost in Cozad, NE and they lived there for 18 months before moving to North Platte in 1971. Sonja then went to work for the Far West Motel for 11 years then worked in the laundry at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.

Sonja was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling, Sonics and ice tea. She also like going to her widow support group and spending time with her family and grandkids.

Sonja is survived by her sons, Darrell (Cheryl) Yost and Chad (Kendra) Yost, all of North Platte, NE; four grandchildren, Carissa and Jace Yost and Jordan and Korben Yost; and other family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents, Herman and Wanda Pasman; and a sister, Elaine Pasman.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore with Rev. Virginia “Ginny” Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Casual dress is requested for the service. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore. Condolences may also be shared at odeanchapel.com. Memorials are suggested to the Callahan Cancer Center or the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
