A 23-year-old North Platte man is facing multiple charges after what authorities are calling a standoff ended with the armed suspect.
Police responded to the report of a disturbance at 402 S.Chestnut where the suspect, Justin Valentine, reportedly had a rifle, waving it around in a threatening manner.
Police were told by witnesses that Valentine actually fired the rifle twice, once at one of the witnesses and once at the wall, according to Sgt. Kendall Allison with the North Platte Police Department.
Valentine is a resident of the location where the alleged incident occurred.
Authorities say Valentine didn’t open the door when police attempted to make contact with him. Police arrested Valentine following a standoff which lasted about an hour and thirty minutes, according to authorities. No injuries were reported.
Valentine was booked into the Lincoln County Detention Center and charged with a terroristic threat charge, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, Firing a Weapon and a 2nd Degree Assault charge.
