At around 3:15 AM on January 20th an Officer from the NPPD responded to the 2300 block of W. Philip on the report of a hit and run. Officers learned that a red two door vehicle had hit a pickup and then collided with a residence. The suspect vehicle was last seen southbound on Buffalo Bill Ave after reportedly striking a second vehicle near the 900 block of Buffalo. Officers were able to locate and follow fluid trail leading south on Buffalo from the scene. Officers located the suspect driver, Benjamin Beauvais near Eugene and S. Buffalo Bill. A red, 1994 Oldsmobile Achieva was discovered to have left the roadway and into a field south and west of the Buffalo Bill Overpass.
Following the investigation Officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Beauvais for Driving Under the Influence, 60-6,196 (1st Offense less than .15, W Mis) and 2 counts Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage accident, 60-696 (II Mis). He was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
Damages to the residence were estimated at over $10,000.00 and the Oldsmobile was a total lose. Police also had contact with the registered owner of the Oldsmobile, Cody Sabel, and he was cited for No Proof of Insurance.
