Third-Grader Brings Loaded Handgun to School

gun-in-schoolAuthorities in Inkster, Michigan, are reporting that a third-grade student brought a loaded handgun to his elementary school.  Luckily, he was stopped before he was able to walk through the door.

Spokeswoman for the school district, Val Hughes, says the principal at Daly Elementary School was tipped off by a phone call prior to the start of school Friday.

The principal was able to head the boy off at the school’s entrance and safely removed the boy and the gun from school grounds.  School officials reported no injuries during the ordeal and no details were released on how the young boy acquired the weapon.

Inkster Police would not release any details about the case when contacted by the Associated Press.

Inkster is located approximately 15 miles west of Detroit.
