Computer classes continue at the North Platte Library in February. Classes meet in our downstairs meeting room and are taught on Windows 7 laptop computers. Each 2-hr class costs $10.00 per person and includes a take-home handout. Class size is limited to 10 people. Class schedule is below. Pre-registration and payment is required. Word 2010-Beginning Skills 1: Tuesday 2/12 at 6:30 PM or Thursday 2/14 at 9:30 AM
Microsoft Word is a powerful word processing program. This class will introduce word processing and its terminology. You will learn how to enter text, correct typing errors, change font and line spacing, and other word processing skills. Most skills learned in this class can be transferred to older versions of Microsoft Word. This class is for the computer user with typing and mouse skills.

This class builds on the skills learned in Beginning Microsoft Word, giving you more hands-on practice. You will learn to use the Office Clipboard, make other editing changes to documents before printing, and to print envelopes and labels. These new skills will be useful for creating professional looking documents. Prerequisite: Microsoft Word 2010 Beginning Skills 1 and mouse skills
Saving and Organizing Computer Files: Tuesday 2/26 at 6:30 PM or Thursday 2/28 at 9:30 AM
This class will teach you how to save files such as documents you have created on your computer and how to organize files in folders. You will learn how to rename files, create folders, move files, and use removable media to save copies of your files or folders.
February Free eReader classes at the North Platte Public Library
The North Platte Public Library has partnered with other Nebraska libraries to offer our library card holders an online eBooks library (Nebraska.lib.overdrive.com) where you can borrow Books for your devices.
The library is offering two free classes the first week of February to teach you how to use Nebraska Overdrive Libraries with two popular devices as listed below. Classes will be in the library meeting room. Please call to register for these classes.
Using Kindle Fires, Tuesday, February 5 at 7:00 PM
You need to bring your Kindle Fire to class and know your Amazon account e-mail and password to download a book to your Kindle during class. Downloading eBooks for these works well by using a computer and your device together or by using the Fire alone.
Using iPads, Thursday, February 7 at 9:30 AM
There is a free app for the Overdrive Media Console for your iPad and one additional step for you to be able to borrow books for your device. You can also borrow audio books for iPads.
