GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — An NHL official tells The Associated Press that prospective owner Greg Jamison is unlikely to complete a deal to buy the team from the league before a lease agreement with the City of Glendale expires on Thursday. The official says that, barring a last-minute change, the former CEO of the San Jose Sharks won’t have the money or investors in place to meet the deadline. Last year, Jamison and Glendale officials reached a 20-year, $324 million lease deal that was reworked in November.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels and reliever Kevin Jepsen have agreed to a one-year contract worth $1,181,250, avoiding arbitration. The hard-throwing right-hander returned to an important role in the Halo’s bullpen last year after missing much of the 2011 season with a knee injury. He went 3-2 with a 3.02 ERA.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Jerry Sandusky isn’t getting the new trial he asked for. He’d argued that his lawyers weren’t given enough time to prepare for the proceeding that ended with a 45-count guilty verdict. Judge John Cleland issued a 27-page order saying Sandusky’s lawyers conceded that their post-trial review turned up no material that would have changed their trial strategy.
