A suspicious vehicle observed by an Officer with the North Platte Police Department (NPPD) lead to weapons and drug charges for several North Platte residents.
At around 10:10 PM on February 8th, an Officer from the NPPD observed a suspicious vehicle, a four-door pickup, park and turn its lights off after coming to a stop on a ramp located on property owned by the Nebraska Department of Roads near 13th and Buffalo. The Officer made contact with the driver, 19-year-old James Foggs. Also in the vehicle were Kenneth Reed, Jr., 21, Deborah Plunk, 27 and Jeffery Denson Jr., 21.
The suspects became non-compliant and belligerent towards officers on scene and refused to follow their commands. Officers, due to their experience and training, determined that there was probable cause to believe the suspects had recently used and were in possession of a controlled substance and initiated a search of the vehicle. During the search, a large kitchen knife was discovered. Denson and Foggs were arrested and secured in a patrol vehicle without incident, while Reed and Plunk resisted arrest and had to be forcibly removed from the vehicle.
Upon completion of the search, officers had uncovered prescription drugs, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a semi-automatic 9mm hand gun were seized by Officers.
Foggs was charged with Obstruction of Police, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.
Plunk was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Accessory to a Felony, Possession of a Concealed Weapon, Obstruction of Police, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Marijuana and 3rd Degree Assault.
Reed was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Accessory to a Felony, Possession of a Concealed Weapon, Obstruction of Police, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Marijuana.
Denson was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Accessory to a Felony, Possession of a Concealed Weapon, Obstruction of Police and Possession of Marijuana.
All four suspects were arrested and processed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
