School was cancelled Thursday at Gordon-Rushville Public Schools so students and faculty could attend the funeral of a local youth.

The district cancelled classes to observe the funeral of 12-year old Matt Jagger, a seventh-grader who was killed in a car crash on February 21.

Administrators opted to call off class due to the large number of students and teachers that planned to attend the service.

Matt died when the vehicle his mother was driving went out of control on slick roads and slid into the path of an oncoming truck.   Matt’s 10-year-old sister was also seriously injured in the crash.
