Margery Jean Forsberg, 87, of North Platte, NE passed away Thursday, February, 28, 2013, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Margery was born August 18, 1925, to Roy Eugene and Margerette Magdelene Jacobson Wood at Austin, MN. She grew up in Austin and Madison, SD and graduated from Austin High School. She went to the University of Minnesota where she received her teaching degree then taught high school English in Minnesota.
On December 20, 1948, Margery married Merlin Douglas “Doug” Forsberg at the University of Minnesota Chapel and they made their home in Minneapolis, MN. They later moved to Brookfield, IL, Lincoln, NE and St. Joseph, MO. Margery continued teaching in each city they lived in. She moved to North Platte in 2005 to be closer to her daughter, Patty.
Margery was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and P.O.E. Chapter. She enjoyed oil painting, playing bridge, writing poems and golfing. She and Doug liked to travel through the states and in Europe. Margery loved being a gramma and great-gramma.
She is survived by her daughters, Patty (Jim) Whitney, of North Platte and Carol (David) Suggs, of Shorewood, MN; five grandchildren, Amy (Justin) Chesnut, Dustin Suggs, Sarah (Matt) Kaminski, Jeff (Jackie) Whitney and Danny (Jaci) Whitney; 11 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kaylee, Macy and Whitney Chesnut, Ryan, Abby and Chloe Kaminski, Ben and Delaney Whitney, Harper and Griffen Whitney; several nieces, nephews and other family.
Margery was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; her parents, Roy and Margerette Wood; a brother, Roy Wood; and two sisters, Carol Schnack and Ruth Adkins.
Cremation was chosen. A private family memorial service will be at the First Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
