Hold On Spring Fever, Winter May Make a Return This Weekend

advisory-map-march-7-noaaWith spring on the horizon, winter is set to remind Central Nebraska that it hasn’t gone anywhere just yet.

Forecasters are saying there’s a good chance for a rain/snow mix in North Platte this weekend.  The latest weather models suggest that wintry weather will most like move in Friday night into Saturday morning.

Snow accumulation is expected for most of the Central Plains, however, it’s too early to tell exactly what path the storm will take.

Northerly winds will blast across the Plains starting Saturday afternoon, and will most likely continue through Sunday.

Authorities would like to remind everyone that the combination of wind and snow, tends to make travel difficult and dangerous.

The National Weather Service in North Platte is giving the area a 60 percent chance of rain Friday night and a 70 percent chance of a rain/snow mix on Saturday.  Winds may wreak havoc with sustained winds around 25 mph and gusts up to 35 mph on Saturday.
