An Oregon company plans to move one of its survey towers so it can check wind speeds nearer Lincoln in southeast Nebraska’s Lancaster County.
The Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission on Wednesday approved a request by Volkswind USA, of Portland, Ore.
The nearly 200-foot-tall tower will be moved from Gage or Jefferson counties, where Volkswind has been checking wind for the past couple of years.
Volkswind announced last March that it was checking the two counties for a potential wind farm. Volkswind President Jeffrey Wagner says the Lancaster County tower will help Volkswind determine the area’s wind potential.
