Marvin Harold Lehman

LEHMAN, MARVIN

Marvin Harold Lehman, age 81, area rancher, of Maxwell, passed away March 7, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center after long fight with cancer. He was born October 17, 1931, on a ranch south of Farnam, NE to Harold and Viola (Johnson) Lehman, where he grew up and graduated from Farnam High School in 1949. After graduation, Marvin joined the United States Air Force were he achieved the rank of Staff Sargent and worked as a crypto operator in Oslo, Norway. There he met his beloved wife, Anne Lise Eriksen Nordgaard. They were united in marriage on December 18, 1954 in a Lutheran Chapel. To this union three children were born. In 1956, he returned to the United States with his wife and first born child. Upon return, he purchased a ranch west of Maxwell where they made their lifelong home. Marvin made his career as a rancher and cattleman. He enjoyed the country way of life and found his passion in auctioneering, for which he attended school in 1963 in Cheyenne, WY. He sold many sales and continued to auctioneer throughout his lifetime. He was a devoted and hardworking husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Marvin was a member of the American Legion Post 181, Auctioneer’s Association, and Realtor’s Association. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Anne Lise; son, Harold J. Lehman of New Orleans, LA, twin daughters, Susanne C. Lehman and Dianne P. Strobel; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Lewis Lehman of Wallace and Jerry (Karen) Lehman of Farnam; sisters, Loree McCord of Hastings and Linda (Larry) Brower of Kimball; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister Della Schnackenberg. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Callahan Cancer Center or Great Plains Regional Medical Center. A private family memorial service will take place with inurment at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery to celebrate Marvin’s life. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
