William “Bill” Elmer Holson, age 59, of North Platte, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
Bill was born October 16, 1953 in Tucson, AZ, to William and Beverly (Barnes) Holson. He grew up in Oklahoma and Nebraska. He met Jamie Young at a young age and the couple has been together for years. They wed on March 23, 1997 in North Platte. Bill worked for Ernie and Jan Mehl on their farm for many years. He also worked for Herbst’s towing, Carl Maline and Tom Vedder. Bill purchased his first truck and started driving for himself in 2004. Even though he was 100% disabled from an accident in 1987, he continued to support his family, working through the pain and discomfort he felt. In November 2012 he had to quit due to his injuries. He was a past member of the Moose and Eagles’ Clubs and a life time member of the Trucker Association Safety Committee which regularly met at the House Bar on Friday Nights. Bill enjoyed driving so much that on his time off he went for drives with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking and being with his family. He especially loved his grandchildren and his dog, Tate.
