Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Clifford Pinkerton, 92, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2013.
Clifford, also known as Pinky, was a brilliant, kind, and gentle soul that will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends.
Clifford was born in Omaha on May 6, 1920. Clifford married Marjorie Jane Van deVenter and they recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. Together they had two daughters and two sons. In 1942, Clifford went into the service as a radar officer and was soon promoted to general’s aide due to being fluent in French. He was released due to an injury and was able to attend medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center on the G.I. Bill. He was a family practitioner in North Platte for 18 years. He then specialized in anesthesiology and was an anesthesiologist for 21 years.
Once retired, he and his wife moved to Sun City West, Ariz., in 1986.
Clifford is survived by his beloved children, Kathee (Jay) Larson, of Wahoo, Susie Watton, of Lincoln, Bruce (Eileen) Pinkerton, of Billings, Mont., and Mark (Tess) Pinkerton, of Olathe, Kan.; as well as his 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Advent Episcopal Church or Operation Smile, 35 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA 23509.
Services were on March 18 at Advent Episcopal Church in Sun City West, Ariz.
