Dale L. Tobey

Dale L. Tobey, 78, went to sleep and woke up to his Lord and Savior on March 17, 2013.
He was born Sept. 8, 1934, to Arthur L. and Mamie (Spradlin) Tobey on the home place four miles south of Maxwell. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1952. Dale married Sandra (Phillips) Tobey on June 17, 1956, in North Platte. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 and served six years in the reserves.
He worked in Topeka, Kan., for two and a half years, where he did bidding and estimating for a construction company, sold real estate and cars for Bozarth Chevrolet. He moved back to North Platte and worked for New Tek Manufacturing, Nebraska Tractor and Electric Fixture Supply Company of North Platte. He farmed and ranched on the family farm for 52 years. Dale was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer/Rancher Award in 1968. He served on the Federal Land Bank Board of Directors from 1966 to 1982, and also served on the Maxwell School Board for four years. Dale was an active member of the Maxwell Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald William and Milton L.; and a sister-in- law, Carolyn.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra, of North Platte; two children, Teresa Ann (Randal) Hiatt, of Alliance; Russell Ray (Rhonda) Tobey, of North Platte; four grandchildren, Brandon (Anna) Hiatt, Erin (Erik) Erickson, Amy (Garrod) Lamberty, Blake (Ashley) Tobey; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Hunter Hiatt; one brother, Delbert; a sister-in- law, Jenevie Tobey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Maxwell Baptist Church Building Fund or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared at carpentermemorial.com.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, at Maxwell Baptist Church, with Pastor Bob Allen and Pastor Bob Townsend of Pleasant Point Community Church officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation is from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6-8:30 p.m., today, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
