Lloyd  Nordin

Lloyd K Nordin, 88, of Gothenburg, NE, died March 17, 2013 in Omaha, NE.

He was born May 12, 1924, in Gothenburg to Andrew and Augusta (Carlson) Nordin. Lloyd attended elementary school in Gothenburg, middle school in Riverside, California and high school in South Gate, California. He graduated in 1942 from South Gate High School. During WWll, Lloyd was drafted into the United States Army Air Corp. After training school, he was stationed for two and half years in India as a parachute rigger. Staff Sgt. Lloyd Nordin was honorably discharged in February of 1946. After his discharge, he returned to Gothenburg, NE.

On September 27, 1947, Lloyd married Caryl Mae Sall. Four children were born to this couple; Kathleen, Patricia, Jo Lynn, and Pamela. Also in 1947, Lloyd established Nordin Construction Company. During his construction career Lloyd built churches, commercial building and over 100 homes from Sutherland to Hebron, Nebraska.

Lloyd had a great love for anything dealing with the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed sharing this love of nature with his children and grandchildren. Lloyd used these outings to share his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, with talks about the love of God and the beauty of His creation. Lloyd was an active member of the Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include: his devoted wife Caryl Mae, his children: daughter, Kathleen Nordin of Moreno Valley, CA; daughter, Patricia (Jerry) Shinley of Moreno Valley, CA; and their children Kristen (Glenn) Morris and Brandon Shinley; daughter, Jo Lynn Van Cleave and her children Cameron (Chrissie) Van Cleave and Cortney (Jeff) Anderson; daughter, Pamela (Larry) Henry of Omaha, NE and their children Michelle (Anthony) Jackson, Philana Conley, Damon (Stephanie) Ruffin, Jared Ruffin, Brittney Ruffin, Lea Henry, Isaiah Henry; also nine great grandchildren.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Walter, his sister Violet Peters, an infant brother, and his son-in-law Phillip Ruffin.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE; Sunday, March 24, 2013 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, with family present from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at Evangelical Free Church, March 25, 2013 at 10:00 am with Pastor Doug Monkemeier officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE.
