The police chief of the western Nebraska town of Kimball has been placed on administrative leave as officials investigate reports of deceptions by him.
Kimball Mayor James Schnell confirms that Police Chief Mark Simpson was placed on leave March 15 while officials investigate reports of “suspicious fallacies” regarding Simpson. He declined to elaborate on those reports, saying privacy policies regarding city personnel prevented him from doing so.
At least one report came from Kimball County Sheriff Harry Gillway, who also declined to spell out what deceptions Simpson is accused of making.
Simpson could not be reached for comment.
