The Husker baseball team was denied its second sweep of the Big Ten schedule. Iowa knocked off the Huskers 6-5 in Iowa City on Sunday afternoon to salvage one out of three games from the weekend series. Nebraska took an early 2-0 lead but the Hawkeyes scrapped back and took a 4-3 lead in the fifth. They extended the lead to 6-3 in the sixth and carried that margin into the ninth, where Nebraska rallied to score two runs on a sac fly and an error. But Austin Darby hit into a game-ending double play, leaving the tying run stranded at third. The Huskers did manage to win their third consecutive Big Ten series with their wins Friday and Saturday, and are now 7-2 in conference play. They begin a six-game homestand, their longest of the season, on Tuesday night when they renew their in-state rivalry with Creighton.
