Rockies Cool Off Mets in Doubleheader Sweep (LISTEN LIVE TODAY on ESPN Radio 1410)

On a chilly day in Denver, the Colorado Rockies swept a double-header from the New York Mets to move their winning streak to five games. In game one, Todd Helton’s two-run single in the fifth inning pulled the Rockies ahead for good in an 8-4 victory. Carlos Gonzalez hit his fourth homer of the season and Eric Young Jr. drove in a pair of runs. Juan Nicasio battled through five innings to earn the win on the mound. The second game saw the Rockies facing an 8-2 deficit after five frames, as Jeff Francis was battered for the second straight time. But they battled back to tie the score at eight in the eighth inning, and in the tenth, Jordan Pacheco’s RBI single gave the Rockies the 9-8 win. Game three of the series is scheduled for tonight at 6:40. ESPN Radio 1410 will have all the action, with pregame coverage getting underway at 6:05.
