One thing is clear from looking at Facebook photos of 3-year-old Landon Schroeder, he loved to fish.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Landon was fishing with his stepfather at around 5:30 p.m. Monday at a pond near the Newberry Road overpass, when he apparently had a seizure and fell into the water, resulting in a near-drowning episode.

According to family members, Landon was taken to a Denver hospital via helicopter where he was placed in a medically induced coma. Postings on the “Prayers for Landon” Facebook page from family members Tuesday, state that Landon was on a ventilator and experiencing organ failure.  The post also said that anytime Landon is moved, he goes into cardiac arrest.

An encouraging Wednesday morning update from the family said that Landon was crying, had a gag reflex and followed a toy horse with his eyes.  However, he remains in extremely critical condition. At this point, the family is asking for prayers of healing for the young boy who only two days ago was energetic and full of life.

Words of encouragement can be shared on the Prayers for Landon Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Prayers-for-Landon/330176857110588?ref=stream.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
