Gwendolen Rosie Bruns, age 95 of Wellfleet, passed away on May 24, 2013 at GPRMC.
Gwendolen was born on March 9, 1918 in Kearney, NE to Burt and Mabel (Bowker) Dady. She graduated from high school in Kearney and attended one year of college. She married Glenn R. Bruns in Gordon, NE on April 9, 1944. She was a beautician for 29 years, from 1939 to 1968 and she was a riveter for Lockheed Aircraft during WWII. She worked for the Post Office in North Platte and Wellfleet for 14 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Wellfleet and the Election Board.
Gwendolen is survived by her son Gary (Caroleen) Bruns of Pierce, NE; grandsons Michael (Sherry) Bruns of Fairmont, NE and Jeffrey (Dona) Bruns of Wellfleet; and great-grandchildren Tiffany Bruns of Lincoln and Todd (Julia) Bruns of Fairmont, Keith and Kalees Urbanek of Wellfleet; great-great granddaughter Emma Bruns of Fairmont; sisters Ardella Roberts of Kearney and Wanda Evans of North Platte; brothers Gale Dady and LeRoy Dady both of Kearney and Milan Dady of Omaha; brother-in-law Bill (Deanna) Bruns of Rushville; sisters-in-law Helen Bruns of Auburn, WA, brothers-in-law Ken Child of Gordon; and numerous other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn; parents; sister Iola.
A memorial has been established in her name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday May 28, 2013 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with the Pastors Larry and Wayne Roberts officiating.. Burial will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday noon to 6:00 p.m. and Monday noon to 4:00 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
