Renwick Lowell Conrad, 57, of North Platte, NE, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE after many months of illness.
Renwick was born June 16, 1955, at Wichita, KS. He was three months old when he was adopted by Lowell Lyle and Reba Louise Grimes Conrad of Osborne, KS. When Ren was a small boy, the family moved to North Platte where he attended school and graduated from North Platte High School. He especially enjoyed music and was talented in playing piano, organ and saxophone.
After high school he worked several jobs while attending Mid-Plains Community College. Ren then attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney where he graduated with honors. He went on to earn a masters degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He studied to become a computer programer and systems analyst with the goal of being in information systems management, which he achieved. Ren worked for companies in Memphis, TN and Lincoln, NE. He was a valued employee and greatly enjoyed his work until his failing health forced him to retire.
Renwick was a member of the North Platte Berean Church and was especially supportive of the ministry of Maranatha Bible Camp at Maxwell, NE.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Lowell and Joy Conrad, of North Platte; his step siblings, Luana (Frank) Van Campen, of Harvard, NE, Mel (Millie) Norman, of Garden City, KS, Duane (Pauline) Norman and Royce (Cindy) Norman, all of North Platte; his cousins, Aubrey (Jacob) Churchill, of Omaha, NE, Janet (Chuck) Look, of Norton, KS, Debra (Terry) Mavis, of Sulphur, LA, Valenda Lutlg, of York, NE, Ruth (Monte) Shelite, of Medicine Lodge, KS and Lauri Grimes of Hays, KS; an uncle, Eldon (Betty) Conrad, of Waxahatachi, TX; his close friend, Wayne (Kathy) Fuller, of Kearney, NE; many nieces, nephews, other family and his friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Reba Conrad; and uncles, James Grimes, Niles Conrad, Doyle Conrad and Milo Conrad.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the North Platte Berean Church with Pastor Frank Van Campen officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be in Kansas in the Osborne City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore.
