Emma Darnel, 92, of North Platte, joined her Lord Jesus on May 26, 2013. Emma was born to Max and Emma (Teyler) Hasenauer on January 22, 1921 near Wellfleet. She farmed in the area with her husband Lawrence, with whom she enjoyed 60 wonderful years of marriage. She loved life and was active in playing the piano and singing for radio church programs as a young woman. She enjoyed playing her guitar and writing songs for special occasions, teaching Sunday School, 4-H, Lincoln County Extension Clubs, Berean Missionary Group, Widow’s Mite as well as managing her own rental properties, gardening, sewing, caring for her yard and cooking. She took extension courses from Moody Bible Institute and earned her GED as a student in her 70’s. Everyone who knew her knew that she loved the Bible and the Lord Jesus, and anticipated the day when she would join him.
Survivors include her children, Carol and Phil Schaefer of Kansas City, MO and Marlin and Cathy Darnel of Florence, KY; grandchildren, Joya, Brian, Naomi and Tatum Edmonds of Kansas City, Mo, Jonathan Darnel of Baltimore, MD, Anthony and Carrie Schaefer of Duluth, MN and Neal Darnel of Florence, KY; sister, Joann Vadeen of Arvada, CO; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; and 10 siblings.
Because Emma had such a heart for foreign missions, her family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Berean Church Missions Funds. Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.
