Layne L. Howell, 50, of North Platte, died May 22, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Omaha.
He was born on Sept. 5, 1962, to Riley and Florence (Hoffman) Howell at Cameron, Mo. Layne graduated from Wiggins High School in Wiggins, Colo.
He served in the United States Air Force and farmed with his family in Colorado, Missouri and Nebraska.
On Sept. 14, 1996, he was united in marriage to Dana R. Booth in North Platte. Layne was employed as a technician at Westinghouse Air Brake.
He enjoyed golfing, pool league, card playing and potting plants and flowers.
Layne was preceded in death by his mother; a sister, Rita; and a brother, Keith.
He is survived by his wife, Dana, of North Platte; his son, Jason (Donna) Howell, of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; a grandson, Gabriel; his father, Riley (Viona) Howell, of Cameron, Mo.; a sister, Dawn Worthy; a brother, Erroll Howell; and his mother-in-law, Willa (Lowell) Fenster, of North Platte.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Cremation was chosen. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, June 3-4, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
