Raymond A. Pandorf, age 93 of Callaway, passed away on June 11, 2013 at the Callaway Good Life Center. He was born on April 17, 1920 in Callaway, NE to Albert E. and Katherine V. (Ridder) Pandorf.
Raymond was raised in Callaway, NE and graduated with the Callaway High School class of 1938. In 1944 he entered the US Army and served as an airplane armorer gunner with the 397th Bombardment Group in central Europe during World War II. After his discharge in 1946 he bagan farming and ranching in the Stapleton area. Ray married Mary Salcetti on October 8, 1982. She preceded him in death on April 30, 1989. On October 6, 1995 he married Winifred (Shaw) Johnson. The couple settled in Callaway to be near their families. In 2010, they moved to assisted living in Broken Bow.
Ray was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Stapleton, St. Boniface Catholic Church in Callaway, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Broken Bow, the Eagles Club in North Platte, and the Elks Club in Broken Bow. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and traveling. Ray was known for his dry wit and humor, making him well liked by his nurses and care-givers.
He is survived by his wife Winifred of Broken Bow; step-son Raoul (Judy) Johnson of Arnold; brother Bernard Pandorf of Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law Mary Jane Pandorf of Callaway; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; brothers Theodore, Hubert, Lawrence and Francis; and a sister Betty Pandorf.

Christian Wake Services will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday June 16, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Stapleton. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday June 17, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Stapleton with the Reverend Antony Thekkekara as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday June 14th and from noon until 6:00 p.m. Saturday June 15th, and from noon until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday June 16th at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
