E. Almina “Mina” German, age 89 of North Platte passed away Tuesday July 2, 2013.
Mina was born on January 14, 1924 in North Platte to Elmer and Emma (Burch) Smith. She grew up in the North Platte area. She married Fred German on March 2, 1962 in Chappell. She worked as a head cook at several restaurants in North Platte, including the Holiday Inn and the Char Bar. She was a member of the 1st Assembly of God Church, she enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was an excellent cook and pie baker.
Mina is survived by her children Dyanne (Robert) Olson, Alice (Dave) Asbell, Sharon (Harold) Geyer, Flora (Dennis) Petersen, Charles (Andrea) German, Shirley (Dennis) Patterson; brothers Waldo (Leona) Smith, Sidney (Bonnie) Smith, Leo (Betty) Smith, George Smith; sister Anna (Jack) Hayford; 24 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred; son Elbert “Butch” Walker in 1968; daughter and her husband Twila and Charles Kirbey, Sr.; grandson Otto Lewis; 2 son-in-laws Joe Lewis and Darold Morrison; great grand daughter Desiree Vinson; brothers Francis Smith and Earl Smith; and sister Luella Cluck.
A memorial has been established in her memory and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday July 8 at the 1st Assembly of God with the Reverend Gary Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday noon until 6:00 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
