(AP) — Police in Kearney say they’ve received multiple complaints about telephone and internet scams involving health related issues.

Police say recent complaints have involved phone callers who try to collect banking and other personal information from residents.

The callers offer to assist with claim filings or applications for Medicare or Medicaid, and ask for the personal information near the end of the conversation.

Authorities say a request for personal information is a warning sign of possible fraud.
