Bell Named to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

Kenny-Bell-Nebraska-Huskers-football-receiverLincoln – University of Nebraska junior wide receiver Kenny Bell joins the growing list of Huskers on preseason watch lists, as he was selected for the Biletnikoff Award on Tuesday. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder from Boulder, Colo., comes off a season where he earned second-team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media, and first-team accolades from BTN.com and ESPN.com among others.

Bell comes one off the most prolific receiving season in school history, setting Husker sophomore marks for catches (50), yards (863), touchdowns (eight) and 100-yard receiving games (three). His 50 catches ranked seventh on NU’s single-season chart while his yards and TDs both were eighth all-time for a single season at Nebraska. Of Bell’s 50 catches in 2012, 16 went for at least 20 yards, including all eight of his touchdowns. He had a career-high nine catches for 136 yards and two scores against Minnesota, while his other two 100-yard games came at UCLA and at Ohio State. In addition, Bell also averaged 23.2 yards on 14 kickoff returns in 2012 and set the school record for longest TD run by a freshmen in 2011 (82 yards).

In two seasons at Nebraska, he has 82 catches for 1,324 yards and 11 touchdowns, while leading the Huskers in catches, receiving yards and touchdown receptions each of the past two seasons.

The 2013 Biletnikoff Award will be presented live on December 12, 2013, on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show, and the 2013 banquet is set for Saturday, February 8, 2014.
